Julian Ichim is the candidate for the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada
in
the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo. Julian Ichim is a member of the KW
Youth
Collective a group fighting to defend the rights of homeless youth and
a
long time friend of the Chinese people. Having spent half a year in
Hunan
teaching English and literature, Ichim has helped organize campaigns in
Toronto to defend the rights of Chinese street vendors in the Spadina
district against racist attacks from the city of Toronto. A staunch
advocate of better trade relations with mainland China, Ichim has
spoken
out extensively on the need of non intervention in the affairs of other
nations and the racist anti dumping laws aimed at China.

Ichim is also an advocate of the rights of immigrants and refugees and
has
fought many battles to stop deportations, to help people get landed
immigrant status and to unite families broken apart by Immigration
Canada.
Ichim feels that globalization must not only be about resources but
also
about people.

Ichim feels that foreign credentials must be recognized and during
several
debates stated “It’s a shame that here in the region of Waterloo 25%
of
people do not have access to a family doctor, mostly poor people, yet
at
the same time we have many foreign doctors washing toilets and working
at
Mc Donald’s”.
