Here is what readers have to say about Prime Minister Jean Chretien's decision to resign in February 2004.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Voices: Chretien resigns

I am afraid that is too long a period of time. He will be an 18-month lame duck. One year is enough.
-John Harris, London, Aug. 21

Jean has finally realized that he has worn out his welcome with the Canadian people. Good riddance!
-Krista Nolan, Toronto, Aug. 21

He should step down before the February 2003 party convention. Leave the post to Paul Martin.
-Binh Ha, Toronto, Aug. 21

If he had told everyone he had made his decision not to run again long ago then I believe this internal battle would never have started. Now he wants us to believe that he never planned to run again.''
-Mary Macri, Windsor, Aug. 21

This is just a ploy to try and sidetrack the campaign of others in the Liberal party seeking the leadership.
-Lorne Ashcroft, Guelph, Aug. 21

I think that is great. He made his contribution to the country and the Liberal party and it is time for him to move on.''
-Vincent Zao, Toronto, Aug. 21

Chretien is being dragged out and if he were concerned for Canada and not power, he should have resigned in 2001 and not February 2004.''
-Damian Franze, Niagara Falls, Aug. 21

When he is ready to retire then that is up to him and not for others to try to push him out so they can run for office.
