Free Training for Internationally Educated Nurses
CPAC Gateway for Internationally Educated Nurses Program is a bridging training program funded by the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada. It aims to help internationally educated nurses (IEN) obtain RN/RPN licenses and employment in Ontario. The program consists of a series of courses and workshops, one-on-one mentoring support and employment services that assist IENs in achieving their career goals.
INTRODUCTION TO NURSING PRACTICE IN ONTARIO
This course consists of 28 hours classroom instruction and will be delivered by nursing experts. It will provide comprehensive and in-depth information on various aspects of nursing practice in Ontario.
NURSING SPECIFIC LANGUAGE TRAINING
This nursing specific language training consists of 30 hours classroom instruction and will help you communicate accurately, effectively and confidently with colleagues, clients and client’s family members in healthcare settings.
CNO EXAM PREPARATION STUDY GROUP
Study groups to prepare for the RN and RPN exams are to be offered to program participants a month before the RN and RPN exams. The Facilitator will help participants review exam preparation strategies and answer any exam related questions in the sessions.
ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING SUPPORT
Professionally established mentors offer support, guidance and assistance to the mentees (program participants) in all steps leading to full registration and employment.
EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
- Individual Counseling
The employment counselor will help participants work out job search strategies and an action plan. Continuous support and guidance from the counselor will be provided to participants throughout the job search process.
- Job shadowing, volunteer, internship/clinical placement
Participants will be provided with job shadowing and volunteer opportunities, internship/clinical placement to obtain relevant Canadian work experience.
- Job Matching
